The City of Palmdale collected $3.8 million in gross sales tax receipts during the second quarter, an 8.75 percent increase over a year ago.
This was the sixth straight quarter of increased sales tax revenue collections after a three year period of decline during the recession, city officials said.
“With Palmdale being the shopping destination of the entire high desert, as consumers begin to spend more on retail goods, dining out and big ticket items such as automobiles, the city and our residents benefit from the increase in sales tax revenue as these monies help fund city programs and services,” said City Manager Steve Williams.
