Palmdale Is Broke And It Wants Your Money In The Form Of Traffic And Parking Tickets

by on August 17, 2010

So the other day I was driving to Chase Bank on Palmdale Blvd. to make a deposit and it was pretty early in the morning. If I’m not mistaken it was about 7:00 AM.

Personally I had never even seen a traffic cop here in Palmdale and when I say a traffic cop I mean a cop on a bike who’s specific job is to write tickets that generate revenue for the city. I live on 40 and I drove into 20 and I kid you not when I tell you that I see three different deputy sheriffs writing tickets…

Now personally I haven’t received any moving traffic valuations but I have received 4 different parking tickets in the past 3 weeks. I’m a small business owner working out of his home so I don’t drive much, which probably explains the lack of moving valuations, but I do park a cargo van in front of my house on a cul de sac and the other day I made the mistake of leaving for a short vacation only to return to a van with a windshield that held three parking violations. And here’s the kicker…

The same day I get back, which I think was a Monday, I removed the tickets from the windshield and took them inside to file them and no sooner do I get up to my office do I see another parking patrol vehicle parked behind my van getting ready to issue another citation.

So obviously I run outside and tell parking enforcement that I already have a ticket or two for whatever violation he’s writing me up for. Turns out it’s a ticket because I don’t have current registration stickers on my van… apparently somebody had taken them off while I was gone and I hadn’t noticed.

I tell the fellow that the van is registered and I even show him current registration but he doesn’t care he says he has to write a ticket if the van doesn’t have current tags…

Folks this is what is happening all around us. The people that we are paying to protect us are now being paid to protect their pensions and paychecks and to produce revenues for their local cities. All over the country we’re hearing from different sheriffs that the people should not expect or depend on law enforcement to protect them anymore… that we should arm ourselves and prepare to protect ourselves.

Do yourself a favor and make sure your vehicles have current registration and tags. The city only sees you as a form of revenue. You are nothing more then an atm machine.

Am I the only one who’s noticed the surge of parking enforcement and traffic cops in Palmdale and how do you feel about it?

Personally I think it’s criminal that the city and agencies we pay to serve us are now looking for more ways to extract more money from us because what we already give them isn’t enough. It’s time to cut this local government down to size if the only solution they see to protect their paychecks is to further tax it’s tax payers.

On a personal level I’ve run into a lot of really nice deputies in Palmdale so I want to make it clear that this post is not about them. This post is about the people above them who don’t know how to manage money and refuse to make the tough decisions that would eventually turn this economy around.

Yes I have noticed a dramatic upsurge in Traffic Police in Palmdale and Lancaster.

So basically it’s like this… people are suffering and losing their homes, which is why the city is losing money. So what does the city do to it’s citizens who are suffering? Write them tickets.

Some will argue that it is for our own safety, but I assure you that is not the motive behind this. They are monetizing their citizens pure and simple. We are nothing but a source of revenue for them.

Our city government are gangsters and the police are their henchmen. And they will continue to squeeze us until there is nothing left.

“And they will continue to squeeze us until there is nothing left.”

This is what I’m most concerned with the most. That and the fact that the Sheriffs Department is here to protect us; not to create additional revenue streams for the city.

It’s Getting Worse !!
I am also a small business man here in the Antelope Valley. I drive from home to home repairing appliances everyday. Sometimes I go to 10-13 homes a day. It’s hard for us all out there in this economy. The last thing we need is a un-necessary parking ticket. Last month, while working a few jobs on a Saturday, I parked in my customers driveway but there was a toy or something so I couldn’t pull up as far as I would have liked to. When I finished fixing the refrigerator for my customer, we both walked out front to find a Palmdale City Parking Enforcement Officer writing me a ticket. I asked him “What are you doing??” He very rudely replied: “your back tires are on the sidewalk”. WHAT!!! They were a couple inches on the sidewalk and it wasn’t hurting anyone. Then I found out he had just wrote the neighbor a ticket for about the same thing and a Moving Company across the street because they were parked backwards to simplify moving furniture. This guy had no heart!! These were stupid minor things that weren’t hurting anyone. He was a mean little man.(and I hope he see’s this because he’ll know I’m talking about him) All he cared about was writing as many tickets as he could that day no matter what the circumstances. Making money was all that mattered. And to top it off, while he was giving out these tickets, his truck was in the middle of the street, with the engine on and the driver’s door open for at least 15 minutes. That WAS ILLEGAL !! But I guess no one is going to give this angry little man a ticket. He’s allowed to break the law. What he did was much worse than my tires being a couple inches over the sidewalk. $65.00 that ticket cost me. That’s about how much I made on that call. Don’t get me wrong. I believe if you’re REALLY breaking the law, you should pay. But not for such trivial things like being a couple inches over the sidewalk. If you leave your truck in the middle of the street, running, with the drivers door open, then you should pay!!
Be carefull how you park ! That little angry man may be around the corner with his ticket book. And he’s not a normal, common-sense, type person. He wants to HURT you !!(while he breaks the law).
Things could be worse…………I could be HIM !!!!
Sorry, just venting…..

Apparently my mother in law got a ticket for a similar infraction the other day when she was down here visiting…

The other day driving down Palmdale Blvd. I counted 3 traffic cops writing tickets within a span of 4 blocks.

Personally I’d like to see where all of this money is going. No probelm with the fines if the money generated is going to the city and it’s infrastructure. Big problem if the money is going to sustain an unsustainably large government that needs to be scaled back to match the existing incoming revenue.
